I have a special place in my heart for 242. I met many of my good friends and established great relationships with people, while growing in my faith. I also met my wonderful husband through 242!
My favorite thing about 242 is the people. There are so many awesome people from different backgrounds, joining together to praise God and build community with other young people in the area.
If you saw my iPod, you would think “What?!” I love all types of music, Christian, Country, R & B and you have to have a little Michael Jackson.
I think that the Retreats are the most impactful. They give you a great opportunity to meet so many people and build strong bonds while challenging you in your walk with the Lord and encouraging you to grow closer with Him.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
__The Christmas Party_____ because…it is hilarious to see some of the tacky sweaters and outfits people come up with!
I think the funniest moment from 242 was when Nick Ireland showed up to one of our Christmas parties dressed in an ELF costume. He looked so much like Buddy, the Elf, and totally played the part all night; it was amazing!
I think that 242 is different than other groups because it has a unique set of people. I know that when I came to 242 I was finally able to meet people that I felt I connected with; they loved the Lord, but we also had a lot in common and I could see myself becoming friends with so many people.
I was raised in Derby, KS and graduated from Wichita State with a degree in Health Care Management and Community Development in May of 2008. I began working here at Eastminster as the Spiritual Growth and Student Ministries Coordinator in June of 2008 and married my handsome husband, Ariel two weeks later! We love to rent Redbox movies, help out with the High School students on Monday nights, hang out with friends and family and (when we get the chance), travel. We have a golden retriever, Maverick, who we absolutely adore. No kids yet, but maybe in the near future!
I would have to say I’d be a golden retriever. Since I have one, I can totally see myself in him sometimes. I am such a people pleaser and thrive when I’m with the people I love. I despise conflict and can often be stubborn if I really don’t want to do something.
